This years Mother's Day Weekend was the very best ever, and I don't ever think it will be that amazing ever again, nonetheless, a great memory for Mother's Days to come! On May 11 I was sealed to my amazing husband, and daughter. Also that morning Gus was able to take out his endowments. So that morning at 9:30 we all went to a session as a family, Aunts, Uncles, Cousin, friends that might as well be blood family. Then that afternoon we were sealed. It was so amazing to see all the kids dressed in white. It was so fantastic to be able to have Clairee, Shonee, Konner be able to observe the sealing, so we could all be together as a family. It was quite the experience to be in the temple with Chappy, Mom, Dad, Sam, Neal, and Gus all at the same time. It's was really a big eternal perspective of how heaven could be, based upon our faithfulness. My heart was so full all day long, and when I think back the feeling come back and flood me.
(Bare with the thoughts not running together so well, I should have done this along time ago, so I didn't forget so much)
Also Mother's Day, was Sunday. I was asked to talk in Sacrament. I first thought that isn't fair to have me do on Mother's Day, then my mother in law pointed out that is was a great gift. Keith had to wrestle kids. Bless her heart she showed up to listen to me and help Keith. I agreed to talk just based upon the topic. My topic was preparing for the temple, being and eternal family in a non traditional way. I first thought no problem, well... my mind was flooded with so many thoughts. I prayed so hard that the Lord would guide me in the way he needed and wanted me to.
I read a quote from Elder Uchtdorf:
Once upon a time...
In stories, as in life, adversity teaches us things we cannot learn otherwise. Adversity helps devlope a depth of character that comes in no other way. Our loving Heavenly Father has set us in a world filled with challenges and trails so that we through opposition, can learn wisdom, become stronger, and experience joy. Your happily ever after.
The Lord lead me to this. I proceeded as follows:
As little girls we watch Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and so many more. They always start once upon a time. We then grow up with this idea of once upon a time. I will meet my prince, he will take me to the temple, we will have children, and live happily ever after. Well, just because that is how I wanted my story to be, doesn't mean that is how it happens. Just because my ideal once upon a time didn't happen, doesn't mean it's over. I have a prince, who was able and worthy to take me to the temple, I have my children, and one added to my children. I am still ok, even thought things didn't work out. As president Uchtdorf said this is MY happily ever after.
Before Keith and I were sealed we wondered if we would feel any different after. Our sealer specifically told us that we would feel different. When we walked out of the temple, we did feel different. We felt more complete as individuals, as a couple, as a family. We had a better sense of security as a whole. For me I now felt more connected to Konner. Because he is Keith's son, and he is sealed to Keith, and I am now sealed to Keith I had a better sense of oneness with Konner.
I had listened to a conversation between Sis Dalton, and Sis Burton about the home.
In D&C 109:8 it says:
Organize yourselves; aprepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a bhouse of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of corder, a dhouse of God;
Our homes should be modeled after the temples, next to the temple our home should be the next most sacred place. As we sat down. The first thing the sealer said is: Welcome home. The door has shut and the outside world is shut out.
Sis Burton said we aren't always perfect but we have a life time to figure it out.
I do have a testimony of this gospel. I have a testimony of God's plan, even for me. I am so blessed with my life, family, friends, and church. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
This is my Happily Ever After
To be continued.....
